An organization for the Filipino web
Web Accessibility Philippines is an organization dedicated to advancing web accessibility in the Philippines. We work with local agencies, businesses, and organizations to help them understand what web accessibility is, why it matters, and how to build for it.
We believe the Philippine web should work for everyone, including Filipinos with disabilities, older adults, and anyone navigating the web in conditions the default build never accounted for. That conviction drives everything we do: our training programs, our consulting work, our free tools, and the community we've built around these conversations.

Our Story
Why we exist
Web accessibility is a global conversation, but for a long time, the Philippines wasn't in it. Filipino web professionals were encountering accessibility requirements without local context, without examples relevant to their work, and without a community to learn from. Organizations didn't know where to start. And the Filipinos who stood to benefit most were rarely centered in how digital products were built.
We started Web Accessibility Philippines to change that. To build the local knowledge base, connect practitioners with each other, bring relevant news and legislation into focus, and make accessibility feel less like a compliance burden and more like a shared responsibility. It is something the Philippine web community is capable of leading.
Identity
Our logo
The Web Accessibility PH mark starts with a familiar image: the universal accessibility symbol, the open-armed figure that signals inclusive design the world over. But look closer: the figure is wearing a salakot, the traditional woven hat worn across the Philippine archipelago for centuries, paired with the scarf of the barong. The global symbol, now rooted in Filipino identity.
That's the point. Accessibility is a universal principle, but the work of advancing it here is distinctly ours. Done by Filipinos, for Filipinos.
The logo was designed by Digo Acuzar, a Filipino visual artist known for Baybayin y Figuras and Republika ng Paraiso. His practice is rooted in recovering and reinterpreting Filipino visual heritage. It was the right fit.

Our team
Web Accessibility Philippines is led by a small group of practitioners who believe the Philippine web can and should do better on accessibility.
Gerson Lacdao
Founder
Gerson is a front-end developer who started Web Accessibility Philippines after noticing how little space the local web community had for accessibility conversations. He leads the organization's training and consulting work, writes the Access Notes newsletter, and built the WCAG Reference app, a free offline app that puts the full WCAG 2.2 specification in your pocket, and the organization's internal audit logging tool. He actively works with various organizations and design agencies to implement web accessibility in their products and digital platforms.
Catt Juan
Co-founder
Catt is a Product Manager and UX Designer, and an IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC). She co-founded Web Accessibility Philippines to help spread awareness and share practices for building accessible digital platforms. She has spoken at conferences, universities, and community events including SOFTCON, Cambridge University Press, and UXPH. Whether she's designing a product, mentoring a team, or speaking at an event, her mission is the same: make sure everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy seamless and meaningful digital experiences.
Volunteers & contributors
Web Accessibility Philippines is also shaped by the volunteers and contributors who show up: people who help run events, share their expertise, and keep the conversation going. If you want to get involved, feel free to reach out.
Alongside the organization's formal work, we've built a community of Filipino web practitioners who care about accessibility: developers, designers, QA engineers, content strategists, and advocates who are asking the same questions and trying to find better answers.
It's a small but growing group, and it's open to anyone working in or learning about web accessibility in the Philippines, or building products for a Filipino audience. The day-to-day conversation happens in our Facebook community: questions get answered, events get shared, and people connect.
